3X6% Alcohol-Resistant Aqueous Film Forming Foam Concentrate

Phos-Chek® 3x6 AR-AFFF (Alcohol-Resistant Aqueous Film Forming Foam) is a mixture of water, hydrocarbon surfactants, solvents, C6 fluorosurfactants and fluoropolymers. The product is a 3% x 6% concentrate that is intended to be proportioned at 3% for hydrocarbon fuel fires and at 6% for polar solvent fuel fires. Phos-Chek 3x6 AR-AFFF is designed for rapid control and knockdown by producing a thin aqueous film on hydrocarbon fuels or a polymer membrane on polar solvent fuels that minimize vapor release, a foam blanket that separates the fuel from the air, and continual draining of water from the foam blanket provides cooling at the fuel surface. 3x6 AR-AFFF’s may have given way to the more modern 3x3 AR-AFFF’s but many legacy systems still use 3x6’s.

Phos-Chek 3x6 AR-AFFF is versatile foam for use in both fixed foam systems and emergency response. It is the choice by many municipal and industrial fire departments. Phos-Chek 3x6 AR-AFFF can be used with standard proportioning equipment, foam discharge devices, bladder tank/ proportioner systems, foam chambers, foam makers, sprinklers, in-line foam proportioners, and self-inducting type nozzles.

Phos-Chek 3x6% AR-AFFF may be used with:

  • Low expansion foam equipment (nozzle, monitors, foam chambers, etc.)
  • Non-aspirating devices (water spray nozzles and standard sprinklers)
  • Medium expansion foam devices to fight fires involving Class B hydrocarbon fuel fires (crude oil, aviation fuels, diesel, etc.)
