Magnesium Hydroxide Slurry
16996 is a highly reactive magnesium hydroxide slurry featuring a uniform particle distribution, making it ideal for adjusting and maintaining pH in wastewater streams requiring additional alkalinity. It serves as an effective alkalinity source for acid neutralization and pH buffering, typically maintaining a range of 8.0–8.5, with a maximum of 10 if overfed. Its enhanced alkalinity efficiency delivers more calcium carbonate equivalent alkalinity per pound than hydrated lime and caustic soda, reducing overall chemical consumption while minimizing hazards and scaling.
- Provides magnesium, an essential nutrient that supports aerobic and anaerobic bacteria used in biological wastewater treatment
- Aids in minimizing sludge generation, lowering disposal costs and improving dewatering performance
- Promotes the removal of heavy metals by facilitating precipitation
- Supports the nitrogen cycle and beneficial bacteria to help reduce odors caused by hydrogen sulfide, ammonia, and organic compounds
- Safer to handle than caustic soda or potassium hydroxide; non-scaling, unlike hydrated lime
- Environmentally Friendly; Non-hazardous, non-corrosive, and non-toxic.
- Provides an operational advantage with a lower freeze point (~28°F) than caustic soda, allowing for improved handling in colder conditions
- Supports biological breakdown of FOG (Fats, Oils, and Grease) contributing to improved wastewater quality
